Product Team Leader

I.e., the “Scrum Master”

The servant leader of the development team, tasked with

PTL Roles

Presiding over many of the scrum ceremonies

  • The Daily Scrum stand-up meeting
  • Sprint Review*
  • Sprint Retrospective

*The SM may preside, co-preside, or play a backup role to the PO in the sprint review, depending on the format and what outside stakeholders are present.

Enforcing scrum/agile principles during the build

The SM is expected to be a Scrum expert, able to instill its principles in all members of the dev team and insure that they stick to them throughout the project.

Removing any obstacles the development team encounters or anticipates during the development process

As a seasoned Scrum user and hopefully, an established member of the business, the SM is expected to be listening carefully to any potential obstacles the team members anticipate in discussing upcoming work / sprints.  The SM is to use creative methods and extensive contacts across the organization to find solutions to these problems or minimize their disruption.  By extension, the SM is also responsible for insuring that all Scrum ceremonies run smoothly, starting with booking the venue, reserving equipment, and working with the PO to make sure the agenda is strategically organized to cover the most important topics for all attendees (clients, execs, and dev team members with possible concerns)
