Product Users in
MANDAROON
For our Chinese Vocab App, we will focus on two main types of front end users and
Front End Users
Content Creators
Our app has two main types of front end users: those who create content, and those who consume it.
Teachers or motivated students who
- post new vocabulary lists to the app
- contribute comments and sub-lists to enhance the context of each item for themselves and other content consumers
- give feedback (i.e., up-vote or down-vote) on other creators’ contributed items in order to prioritize the most useful contributions for themselves and for other content consumers
Content Consumers
Learners who access the app in order to enhance their own language learning process but who (in this role) do not make any contributions of their own.
Important:
In the real world, a learner who contributes lists, comments, etc., would be both a content creator and a content consumer; however, for the purposes of building the product, that one single individual (the highly motivated, content-producing student) must be thought of as two separate users: the creator and the consumer.
Backend Users
This is an educational app geared toward individual end users. The backend users are therefore rather straightforward:
Employees
Business Analysts / Customer Feedback Team: those who identify bugs or confirm bugs reported by users
Development Team: those who fix confirmed bugs
Third Party Personnel
This app is fairly straightforward. It does not involve any physical products and would not likely require outside technicians or specialists. While it’s certainly possible for a consultant to be called in for either technical or theoretical (i.e. educational) advising, such activities would not be frequent; nor would they require special consideration for security (i.e., the handling of particularly sensitive information). It would not be necessary or cost effective to build the product with these users in mind, or maintain features specifically for them.
