Development Team

The “Dev” Team

Developers

Engineers, or others with the technical know-how to create the product

Designers

artists, graphic designers, UX (user experience) experts, or anyone else in charge of creating visualizations of what is to be built or housing the final product in an attractive shell that will be aesthetically pleasing and intuitive to use for the end user.

Testers

Those in charge of ensuring that all components meet any specifications or requirements (technical or otherwise) in the final product.  In a well-organized team, testing of each component will occur immediately after it is built; not when a collection of them are completed, or right before a deadline.

Within the scrum framework, developers, designers, and testers are treated as a single unit, all of which are to be assigned to a single project and focused collectively on its completion.  Practically speaking, they have individual roles based on their areas of expertise, but, technically speaking, according to the framework, they are considered a single unit that works in collectively toward completion of all elements of a product.
