Grooming in
MANDAROON
Part 1 – Top 20%
(The Minimum Viable Product)
The items in this section are at the top of the product backlog, meaning that they are closest to being added to an upcoming sprint. They are the most “refined,” meaning that they have the most detail and the most certainty about exactly what they will entail. Having been discussed in ####sprint planning#### sessions, they have been estimated and have clear ###acceptance criteria###.
Part 1 will follow initial prioritization in backlog prioritization:
- Sequential Necessity (SN)
- Risk/Uncertainty (RU)
- Business Value (BV)
It also represents the “20” of the “20-30-50 rule.”
1a. Basic Registration / Login System
This will be a simple, straightforward login system. The first build will be spartan, offering only the essentials. There will be no options, for example, for using existing email or social media accounts.

Story 1a.03 & 04 Registration & Forgot Password Pages
The Registration and “Forgot Password” pages will include the same amount of detail as the pages above. They would be included for the same reason: SN (sequential necessity).
1b. Bottom Menu & Hamburger Button

1c. Essential Menu Auxilliary Pages
These are minimal pages that populate the basic MVP skeleton. At this point, they contain very little (but still meaningful) content. In future builds, these pages will fill with powerful, highly functional features.

Story 1c.04 & 5 – Add & Edit Lesson Pages
To avoid tedium, mockups are not shown, but a fully functional MVP would also require stories for adding and editing the lesson list. Separating them from the stories above helps to insure that complexity remains low in each story, making them easier to estimate accurately and break into multiple sprints if needed.
1d. Interactive Vocabulary List
This is the primary feature of the MVP. This first iteration will demonstrate the app’s utility and give a glimpse of its innovative features.

End of Part 1
This concludes Part 1, the top 20% of items in the backlog. As expected at this stage, most were prioritized for their sequential necessity (SN) or to mitigate risk/uncertainty (RU).
